happy forty-third birthday to my favorite and only sister.
maybe today your father will surprise you with breakfast in bed.
maybe he will send you to the spa for a hot stone massage.
maybe he will water mom’s plants, vacuum the house, dust, and make dinner.
maybe he will wash your laundry, fold, and put it away…and change your bed.
maybe he will remember to scoop his cat’s cat box and feed him.
but the sad truth is probably more like, maybe you’ll be doing those things for him.
believe me, the older you get, the more things seem to stay the same.
if you are tired of the pattern, change it. if you want more from life, take it.
i hope that you have a snazzy-jazzy kind of a day, full of peace, instead of drama.
if i were closer, i would’ve made you stroganoff with portobello mushrooms.
and, your very favorite cake of all time, black forest cake.
i sincerely hope that you enjoy a very wonderful and happy birthday.
