so, i’ve been doing a lot of things…

…i’ve been thinking a lot about things in general…

…i’ve been thinking about how things that have been said, or pointed out to me in the past, have propelled me…like diving off of a springboard. those words, thoughts, and ideas…were gifts to me and given, because the person cared. those gifts motivated great change and transformation in me, without such, i’m guessing that my expiration date would’ve already passed. i’m very grateful for those motivational gifts…

…i’ve also been thinking about something that was recently said to me. i’m guessing that it was meant to hurt me…but, all that it accomplished was a lot of laughter on my part. in a nutshell, i was basically told that i only wrote about things. the person said, that she “actually did things”…she said that she was a “doer” and i was only a writer…

…i’ve made a list of all of the things that i’ve done in the last two years…all by myself for the most part, with the exception of a few things. the list: taken train from washinton to montana, began blogging, helped to care for my mom on home hospice, helped to plan a memorial service for my mom, eulogized my mom, cooked and cleaned for my dad for three months, went camping in montana, went camping in wyoming, went to the gym in montana, i took photographs in all of the areas that i was in montana, began diet and nutrition program, began walking three miles a day, met some women online, went to wyoming and visited, took photographs in wyoming, made videos in both montana and wyoming, began meditating and keeping a gratitude journal, spent time with nieces and nephew, wrote one book and have nearly finished the second, took the bus from montana to nevada, photographed all of the states in between, helped to take care of karen while she was on home hospice, helped take care of and wait on richard, met my friend ki and toured vegas with her, met up with my friend grace at the fashion show mall, worked hard in therapy, hiked in the henderson wetland area, hiked around the lake mead area, hiked on mt. charleston, driven at speeds up to 120 mph, gotten a dog, started going to the dog park and walking laps, been walking the dog everyday, began exercising every night, drove to winchester for an overnight with my friend grace and her dogs. raised the plane fare to go to iowa by selling my things, flew to iowa with my dog, rented a car in des moines and drove at night through the snow to greenfield, put myself out there and took a chance, entertained myself in iowa by taking drives and taking photos, walked around in and through snow, walked over ice without falling, stayed with people that i’d never met, got myself a new phone, had an adventure at the roseman covered bridge, enjoyed the holidays with a nice family, flew from iowa back to nevada with my dog, took a taxicab back to the apartment from the hospital, got a part-time job, have driven all over the vegas area, have taken thousands of nevada photos, have become a volunteer at the lgbtq center, and have walked all of the blocks in 18b the arts district of vegas…

…yesterday, i parked at the beginning of the arts district, aka 18b. i left the crv and took my camera…and, just began walking. everywhere i looked, i saw a treasure that i just had to capture in pixels. my god, the cactus screamed out my name first, but then i was tugged to the left, by guerrilla artz, rooster…it was amazing. it was then, that i looked up and saw the giant, neon scissors, and a sign below them in the window, that said, “hairdresser on fire.” i was in love. there were 18 blocks of gems and jewels, all equally breathtaking. i walked and walked, and walked. i never got tired. i just kept on walking and shooting. i will be sharing a shit-ton of photos, of things that really spoke to me, or made me feel something. i hope that you will enjoy this photographic expedition and vegas adventure…

…so, i’ve been doing a lot of things…
