this early morning…

this early morning…

you are the gentle breeze…

rustling through the trees…

suggestively moving the leaves…

dancing, doing a bit of a strip tease…

you do whatever it is, you please…

it’s always your day to seize…

this early morning…

you are the humidity, that hangs…

heat lightning and thunderous bangs…

brush set afire, the siren clangs…

crickets alert, they’re out in gangs…

rattlesnakes wait with venomous fangs…

rumbles and crackles, full-on birth pangs…

this early morning…

you are the sticky, hot heat…

making it uncomfortable to eat…

air draped like a blanket, such a feat…

flickering stars above, what a treat…

asphalt looks moist, on the street…

i watch you happen, from my seat…

this early morning…

you are the charcoal grey sky…

you are pink venus, visible to the eye…

you are the green palm fronds, way up high…

you are the orangey moon, shaped like a pie…

you are the black hole in my mind, making me cry…

you are my blood, red heart, and that’s no lie…
